My wool (Big luscious balls from Bendigo Woolen Mills) is 8 ply.
My grandma always knits in 8 ply and she churns out jumpers like a Chinese sweatshop. Her patterns are much too advanced for the likes of me though.
I couldn’t find a pattern online to suit that the boy liked in the right tension! (and that I was capable of knitting, being as this is my first adult garment) So I dug through my stash of vintage pattern sheets, and really, the patterns are still the same – we just wear them a little longer, the V’s a little less deep and the ribbing a little less…..70’s?....right?
So I am doing tension squares at the moment, I think I am onto a 3.5mm needle, and its starting to look about right.
Loving the camp poses. Once the jumper is finished, I’m totally going to make Adam do the same pose to showcase my magnificent creation.
Be sure to pop pver to Kitsty's to check out some more creative spaces.
I have this pattern book, and an Adam! I love these old vintage patterns, the photos are just so funny.
ReplyDeleteMy Adam doesn't feel the cold and is a baby about scratchy *sob* wool, so I just knit for myself and the kids.
Good luck with the jumper.
I love the colour choices of your wool and loving those poses too, very cooool;) Enjoy your knitting.
ReplyDeleteLove the old school photos - and that last center V neck jumper is great!
ReplyDeleteGo you, I admire anyone who can knit an entire adult garment! And I just love the innocent man-posing in those retro patterns, so repressed!
ReplyDeleteI saw the ball of wool in the second picture and just knew it was from Bendigo Woollen Mills! I love their stuff. Here's hoping all the jumper knitting goes well!
ReplyDeleteYes! Yes! The camp pose will just be the best! make sure you make his hair just perfectly retro too!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to get him some mates with good sidies to model alongside!
ReplyDeleteHello! I had my first journey in your blog and enjoyed everything! I love your felting, colours etc. Didn't see much yet - I continue my trip! Thank you for wonderful sights!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Teje
