CRYSTAL HEALING

Crystal healing is an alternative healing technique for strengthening the body and resolving issues and patterns using various forms of natural crystals. The theory is that gemstones carry vibrational rates. By placing these vibrational rates within the aura - your aura's vibrational rates also change. Often the effects are indirect, but very potent. Other times, the effects are very direct and repeatable.

Trying to explain where I am coming from when I talk about crystal healing, It's been a hard post to write, and I've ummed and ahhed about how to put it. Baring in mind that what I write reflects many of my own thoughts on 'spirituality' and how it relates to healing. Its not a concept I have ever had to put into words, I work for the most part intuitively -its never needed expression or explanation before, so bare with me if my words and concepts herein are a little clumsy. -I truly hope that you find a resonance in what I am saying with your own feelings about intuitive healing and crystals.

Some of the theory out there surrounding crystal healing and their metaphysical properties is pretty full on and I find myself glossing over much of it, in as much as I don't need a scientific study to prove to me that crystals have healing properties, I equally don't buy into someone telling me that angels are trying to communicate with me through crystals.

Yes, I am pretty much a hippie, but I still have a strong grounding in reality.

My theory? In all things, not just related to crystal healing, everything is energy, -energy has a resonance. It reacts. To sound, to vibration, to other energy, even to thought or intention (for a documentary that will fully blow your mind surrounding quantum physics and the perception of reality, see 'What the Bleep Do We Know') Each crystal has a unique vibrational resonance. They owe their unique qualities to their mineral content, their inherent geometry and the colour frequency they emit.

I pick crystals for how I am drawn to them -ordinarily, they come with a little sheet of paper telling you what their metaphysical properties are - I read this, some of it stays with me, the rest is forgotten. I use my personal collection of crystals intuitively and I'd encourage anyone who is new to working with crystals to do the same. Crystals will 'speak to you' and I don't mean there is a little voice inside it whispering sweet nothings into your ear, I mean that when choosing a crystal, amongst a bowl full of crystals that are 'the same', you will pick a particular one -maybe not the prettiest, maybe not the one on top of the bowl -your hand will be drawn right off to one piece specifically. Trust it. That is the right crystal for you.

How I use crystals;

Jewellery -almost every piece of jewellery I own is made of crystals - the most effective is chip beads -they're cheap enough that you can buy many different types and because they're relatively unprocessed and are in direct contact with your skin, they're the most effective.  I often find, especially with my crystal jewellery that I loose it or find it at what are retrospectively times of need. -I will find a crystal bracelet that I haven’t been able to find for weeks, then I will wear it for a number of days without taking it off. Then I'll take it off for some purpose and forget about it…. In a couple of weeks I might come across it again. Its uncanny how often this happens -and when you refer to the claimed metaphysical properties afterwards realise that it 'comes to you' at just the point when you need its healing energies most.

Tumbled stones, points and rough specimens -just touching them, carrying them, massaging or meditating with them. -even just having them in a room imparts their healing qualities, I believe into their surroundings.

Around computers and other electrical appliances - especially at work - they're said to deflect or absorb electromagnetic radiation, as well as again, helping to create a calming surrounding.

In the water purifier -My filter bowl is filled with Clear Quartz and Aquamarine. -there is some truly fascinating studies being taken by Masaru Emoto with regards to water and its reaction to images, thoughts and concepts. -I hope to post a blog about it in some depth soon, but in the interim, take a look at Masuri Emoto's Website or see if you can find a copy of the book 'The Secret Life of Water' -it is definitely one of those eye opening experiences that will change the way you interact with water. BE CAREFUL which crystals you use that will come into contact with water you're going to ingest however, some crystals contain minerals which are poisonous! Others which are formed by water -especially the calcite families etc are water soluble - they will dissolve. Do you own research in this respect.

In stagnant areas of the house - clear quartz points are especially good for this. There is a large quartz point hanging in my hallway as my front door and back door are directly aligned -the energy flow goes in one door and out the other. Hanging a crystal in such a place is said to deflect energy flow allowing it to circulate around the house more harmoniously. Irrelevant of what science is able to prove, I can tell you in my house, it has made a difference.

Mixed chip crystals - I have a small bowl filled with different chips - when I am stressed, I sit there and sort the crystals (hundreds of tiny little ones) into groups by type. I find it to be intensely calming and meditative. I rarely finish separating them all out before I am feeling calm again. People who come to my house cant resist dipping their hands into the bowl.

Over the coming weeks I'm going compile some metaphysical profiles to share with you of the crystals from my personal collection, as well as how I use them. Each week I'll post a new crystal profile and link it in here. I hope that any of you who are drawn to crystals and their healing properties yet are put off by the sometimes full on nature of the way it is sometimes presented in much the same way I am, find a middle ground in what I put forward here. Read the crystal profiles, which I've gathered from many different sources and my own personal experiences, but mostly, trust your own instincts and use your crystals intuitively.

  1. I can't wait to read your posts on your crystal collection. This entry really helps me to see what people used them for. I never have myself but have known people that have, and never really know what they do and what you're meant to do with them.

    Looking forward to it!

  2. Thanks for this and the encouragement. One of my friends got me a few crystals that are apparently helpful for women and in pregnancy. Some of them resonate more with me than others although i forget what most of them are called. i keep them close to the bed and also in my bag, which sounds funny but then I have them to fiddle with and roll around in my hands when I am out and about. Thanks for the knitting advice too- did I ever tell you that your tip about putting the thread in a teacup was amazing and it's what I do now- thank you! I love your knitting advice it's always so simple and helpful. xo m.
