My Creative Space

Time to unravel. (Lucky a nifty little yarn winder came into my possession recently)…… This has been my true creative space…. sitting winding wool, very sad, I know, but it is therapeutic…right up until the point where it tangles…. Then, not so much.

I thought I’d ‘get real’ and showcase in my creative space this week my most recent FAIL. This was supposed to be a little singlet crocheted from one side to the other in an attempt to create an as you go rib effect –row 1 single crochet, row 2 half double crochet etc. in theory…..it can work, I’ve got to work on my proportions –I’ve got a very skinny singlet with a neck hole down to the belly button!

This is just one of the many fails, littering the floor of my creative space. I challenge you to share yours!

  1. Your fail isn't worse than mine (what a coincidence btw!), yours is a true attempt at creation & originality, mine, is, Uh... Gluing stuff to an old stool. ;)

  3. Look at all those gorgeous colours! I started a blanket a little while ago that is somehow becoming wider as I go! Argh, the thought of having to unravel it after all that work is so disapointing, but very necessary, for now I've just put it aside hoping I'll pull it out one day & it will miraculously be perfect!!

  5. The tangling is the worst! I just wound some yarn tonight, by hand. :-/ Beautiful colors, though!

  6. Beautiful colours! Isn't the design process just brutal...so much frogging :( Totally worth it in the end though, I love the stripe effect.

  7. Love the colours of the wool you've been winding, it's gorgeous. Can't wait to see what you make with them.
Never fight the fails...they usually lead to the best creations....and the most interesting!
Have fun with your crochet :)

  8. I love that row of colour! So pretty!

& I would call it an experiment with a new pattern! So not a fail at all. People have to nut out patterns & find the flaws in them when they write them so that is what you are doing! Cool job!

  9. I'm in love with that row of colour too. It screams potential handmade wool items to me. I've had some crochet fails as well too and have also made one truly ugly crochet cardigan, that I thought at the time was quite nice until my husband pointed out otherwise and I realised he was right! Luckily I think what I am making right now is great and I think I will have a hard time giving it away when the time comes.

  10. I love yarn pictures, I love winding yarn. You are a woman after my own heart!
It is not sad, it is so happy and relaxing. I wind using a nosteppine and can now wind a skein in under 10 minutes if I am not doing anything else.

  12. Oh My goodness I know that winding pain. The tangles, you are good to keep at it, I get bored and think in this time I could be making something, which is why my yarn is always tangled.
    Gorgeous colours btw

  15. Lovely photo with beautiful yarns waiting to be knitted and perhaps reknitted. Often we don't know at first time what we want to do and then we'll try again...If everything was too easy it wasn't so exiting and fun! And so rewardind when finally finding the way!
    Sunny wishes from Crete! Teje
